Vola Finance
A mobile application that helps users be better with their money.
CONTEXT
Vola Finance is a mobile application that helps users to find smarter ways to save and build credit score. It provides users features like overdraft protection, access to cash advances, and expenses management. 
As the sole designer, I collaborated with stakeholder and engineers to ideate, implement and ship new Vola mobile application features. At the same time, I was also responsible for improving the design of www.volafinance.com 

Until February 2021, the application has over 4100 ratings and has received score 4.4/5.0 on iOS app store.

I worked on 💡
In the 5 months contract with Vola Finance, I was able to wear multiple hats to design, research, and animate for its website and mobile application. Before I dive into more details, here is a high level overview of what I worked on:

✨ Redesigned volafinance.com
The primary objective of the project was to enhance the structure and appearance of the website in order to boost the conversion and retention rates. As a financial app, the landing page had to convincingly promote the product, while simultaneously instilling a sense of trustworthiness in users. To accomplish this, I conducted a comprehensive competitor analysis and user interviews to identify areas for improvement.
Based on my findings, I introduced new visual elements that not only refreshed the look of the website, but also adhered to the established branding guidelines of Vola Finance. By implementing these changes, I aimed to create a consistent and coherent visual identity for the brand, which would help to build and reinforce trust with users.
In addition to introducing new design elements, I also focused on optimizing the website's layout to improve the user experience. I carefully considered the placement of various design elements to ensure that users could quickly and easily access the information they needed, while also being enticed to engage with the product.

✨ Designed & shipped new features for Vola Finance app:
As a designer at Vola Finance, I played a crucial role in driving product innovation and enhancing user experience. I achieved this by collaborating with our customers to understand their needs, as well as by working closely with the founder to shape the product's overall vision.
Based on customer feedback and the founder's vision, I designed and launched several new features that aimed to provide greater value and convenience to our users. These included the bank balance prediction calendar, which utilized advanced AI algorithms to help users forecast their financial position, Vola Score improvement tips, which offered actionable insights for improving users' credit scores, and a partnership banner with Experian™, which enabled users to access their credit reports with ease.
Furthermore, I led the redesign of the app's visual elements, including animating interfaces for the loading screen, credit score, and page transitions. These updates resulted in a more modern and polished look that helped to improve overall user engagement and satisfaction.
By constantly seeking feedback and incorporating it into our design decisions, we were able to improve the Vola Finance app and deliver a better experience for our users.

Stakeholder & user interviews 👩🏻‍💻
While the task was to "improve the entire website", it was important to note the crucial role that the landing page played for increasing conversion rate of a mobile application website. Generally speaking, a user only spends 5 seconds on a web page unless the page contains a clear value proposition. The old website contained every piece of information about the product, but it took more than three scrolls to go over everything in details. In order to retain even the most impatient user, I ran a user test to find out what the customers actually think and interviewed the stakeholder to learn about the company's value. Findings showed that there were 3 things that users needed to be able to answer with a simple glance of the landing page:

Task 2
Mobile application design
New features update 🧚🏼‍♀️

Vola Finance has promoted multiple new features. In 5 months, there were many small changes that were made to improve the overall user experience. I'm not able to go over all of them but I would like to talk about the "essential balance forecast" feature that I helped design from scratch. 
When a user connect Vola Finance to a bank account, Vola Finance will able to gather data about subscriptions and users spending habit. Through running the data in algorithm,  Vola Finance was able to predict the future balance of the user's bank account so that user can make necessary decision to avoid their balance going to negative.
